Michael Tubbs, Mayor of Stockton, said that by August 2018 residents of that little californian city will receive $500 a month for the next three years. Stockton, in fact, is expected to become the first U.S. city to launch a so-called Universal Basic Income. But, if on the one hand UBI could solve current poverty and even provide an alternative to today’s social welfare programs, on the other hand someone think that a fixed income could dissuade unemployed people from pursuing jobs and could promote laziness.
