The United States seem on the verge of creating a new branch of American forces, dedicated to the defense of space. The idea of a “Space Forces Command” was already been sketched out by Trump in the past and last Thursday Vice President Mike Pence presented a close-up for its creation. We are only at the beginning, of course, but Donald Trump already inflamed the discussion with a tweet: “Space force all the way!” For the moment there are many doubts about this new project: for example, how much will it cost? Does aviation not already deal with space threats? And why do we need to create a new armed force?
Technically speaking, it’s called synaptoma and is the first complete brain map: according to the study published by the journal Neuron, we now have one more tool to try to unravel the mysteries of the most complex organ of our organism. By studying the brains of mice, using artificial intelligence to process the data, the researchers managed to map over a billion synapses, the connections between the neurons. In this way the map created highlights the organization and the alterations in case of neurological disorders such as autism and schizophrenia. According to the authors of the study, this tool will be able to tell us more about the mechanisms that regulate the memory and the thinking of the human brain.
On July 22nd, the SpaceX’s (the company created by Elon Musk) Falcon 9 rocket, took off from Cape Canaveral in Florida. The purpose of the mission is to launch a satellite designed to improve telecommunications in Indonesia, India and Southeast Asia. To make the operation memorable, however, is the re-use of the Block 5 rocket, which had already been launched in orbit last May. Musk called Block 5 “the most reliable rocket ever built” and said that it will not need any maintenance for the next 10 flights, it would already be reusable in just 24 hours after landing and could potentially fly up to 100 times before being dismissed.
